The Colquhoun tartan is a well recorded Wilson's of Bannockburn tartan. It became part of the Cockburn collection in 1810 and a sample sent to the Highland Society of London around 1816 signed and sealed by the Chief himself.
The term 'ancient' refers to the dye shades, normally lighter, whereas 'modern' refers to darker colours.
